Stories are great ways to help people remember your message. Think about different speakers you may have heard over the past year. Do remember the figures and statistics? Their Powerpoint slides? Probably not. But if they told an interesting story then chances are you do remember the main points and you remember who told it.
Stories are great sources for multi-purpose content, too.

The trouble is that there is very little original content. People seem to think that as long as they just re-post a press release or an article they saw somewhere else, that they can cross the “content marketing” task off their to-do list.

The purpose of content marketing is to increase awareness of you and your company and to establish your reputation as a trusted source of information.

I recommend that you segment your email list and send different versions that contain articles that speak to the specific needs of each group. Otherwise, you end up creating content that may not matter much to a segment of your audience. The eventual result is they stop reading your newsletter - robbing you of an important channel of communication. Once they leave it will be very difficult to get them back.

Blogs are great places to share your thoughts and give customers some insight into what it is like to do business with your company or how you are as an individual. A lot of folks tout the 2-way communication capabilities of blogs as a major benefit. But I wouldn't count on that.
There are just so many blogs that people can read.
